Foundation

Summer Term

Nature Detectives | Catforth Primary School

Welcome back to our Summer Term. We hope you have had a good rest and are now ready to join in with some very exciting learning in Foundation.

We are beginning our new topic 'Nature Detectives'. During this topic we will become detectives and explore the world around us. We will notice changes in our environment and begin to be able to make comments about what we observe. We will enjoy stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Oliver's Milkshake, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Tiny Seed. During this term we will also enjoy planting and growing our own beanstalks and nurturing our outside area.

For the second part of our final school term we will become 'Ocean Explorers'. We will be diving under the sea and find out about the creatures that live below. We will enjoy fiction and non-fiction text such as,  Commotion in the Ocean and At the Seaside. We will even be jumping aboard a pirate ship!

Please continue to look on our class page to enjoy our class book of the week and to see what we are getting up to during our school day. Photographs will be posted regularly. Please also remember to have your book bag and water bottle in school daily. As the weather gets warmer please bring a sun hat and apply sun cream before school.  Please continue to bring to school your wellies or old shoes for forest school activities, every Friday.

Family Week

As part of our People Skills curriculum, we teach children in each year group a comprehensive and inclusive Relationship, Sex and Health Education Programme, which complements our Christian values. The focus of this learning will take place during Family Week (19.06.23-23.06.23), where children in Foundation will be taught the following, in line with DfE statutory guidance:
